About the Creators of Chains

While there are a lot of people helping to make Chains a reality, the three co-founders of Chains the Movie, LLC are the driving forces behind production. Derek Hastings, Vince Sanchez and Russell Jacobson bring a wide range of experience in media production and disc golf to this project.

Derek C. Hastings - Director / Editor

A veteran of 14 years in the television business, Derek started his career at ABC Sports in New York where he garnered two Emmys for his directorial work. At ABC Sports, Derek worked on a wide range of sports highlighted by the Super Bowl, Monday Night Football, College Championship Series, Triple Crown horse racing and primetime golf specials. As a free-lancer, Derek has directed multiple commercial campaigns, over 20 half-hour documentary style and variety sports shows, graphic packages and open/features for HBO, ABC, NBC, TNT, FSN, Spike, CBS, CSTV, MTV and ESPN. In 2006 and 2007, Derek was the senior feature producer for an hour-long sports series on Fox Sports. Also in 2007, he spent 2 months in Puerto Rico, Las Vegas and Los Angeles producing features on Oscar De La Hoya for HBO Sports' acclaimed series "DeLaHoya Mayweather 24/7", which resulted in another Emmy for Derek's work. He currently splits time between Santa Cruz, California and North Carolina, and plays disc golf as much as he can.

Vince Sanchez - Producer, Editor, Sound Mixer

Before becoming a producer/editor, Vince was a Grammy nominated audio engineer. He's been a video editor since 1996 and recently has been Supervising offline/online editor for the series Coolfuel Roadtrip, airing on The Science Channel, and Lead Editor/Feature Editor for FLW Outdoors Bass fishing series, airing on Fox Sports Net. He has also produced a variety of documentaries, commercials and non-profit videos. His work in the audio field includes being audio mixer for several TV series, including three years as mixer for the FLW Tour and many commercials and documentaries. He resides with his wife and daughter in Santa Cruz, California, and enjoys playing drums with his band at area clubs.

Russell Jacobson - Executive Producer / Attorney

While new to media production, Russ brings a strong legal and disc golf background to "Chains." He has been playing disc golf for over twenty years, and served as President of the non-profit DeLaveaga Disc Golf Club for over three years. In 2007, he co-founded World Disc Sports with disc golf Hall of Famer Tom Schot and World Flying Disc Federation director and freestyle Hall of Famer Kevin "Skippy Jammer" Givens. Russ graduated with a B.A. in 1990 from UC Santa Cruz, and from Santa Clara University Law School in 1994.
